Artists at Work

Richard Attenborough Centre
University of Leicester

February 98

Artists at Work brought together the work of 8 professional artists with a visual impairment from around the United Kingdom and Ireland. The artists featured in the exhibition included Irish studio ceramist Terry Cartin, sculptor and painter Ian Hamilton, textile artist Jacqueline James, painters Jonathan Huxley, Carolyn James, Jennifer Maskell Packer and Gary Sargeant as well as drawings by myself.

This exhibition was held at the new Richard Attenborough Centre at the University of Leicester in February 98 and coincided with the launch of a publication of the same name profiling artists with a visual impairment. The publication was based on taped interviews I did with the artists, in which we discussed their work and how the related to the visual arts and their environment through having a visual impairment.

My introductory article to this publication is available for you to read, while a complete copy of 'Artists at Work' can be obtained directly from the Richard Attenborough Centre at the University of Leicester.
